Teardrop tank

I wanted to fit a smaller teardrop type tank and was going to cut the bottom out of an aftermarket Harley tank, do I need to lave much room around the carb and motor?

When you lift your tank of you find out that there is just enough space for carburator and filter between frame,so you got to use your imagination!
