Damn Bill Taylor for starting the curse!

Bill had this happen on the way to Sturgis this year.

This morning on the way to a Veteran's Ride (right at 32F..brrrr) in the city I did not have ear plugs in and heard a funny clunking sound over small bumps.

One side of the front fender had broken..DAMN...gave it to my guys at the shop and see what they do with it...a "beer can fix" is not an option to those guys..lol

If they have no luck...which I doubt...then I will take the new metal fender I bought from Mark and send to Tim at Siron for a paint match...

I replaced my fenders with metal for that reason ,,, Not that bad but I had noticed cracks during an inspection and replaced before total failure ,,, I mentioned this in a post sometime back ,,, love the steal ones ,,, I feel they also look better.

Damn Bill, I did not know Michelob Ultra was the recommended solution ... I used Yingling in the past, hope it is still in service!!

While a steel fender is the best solution, when sidelined I like "outside the box" repairs ... least it keeps you on the road!

There is quite an easy permanent fix without discarding a painted plastic fender Bill..

I will post pics of what the guys did...just getting the fender touched up now at a friends...a small spot on the back of the fender that hit the rad motor due to the fender being up a bit too high on the forks..hopefully just a couple days.

I was actually going to have them do this last year but forgot. I had seen what I thought might have been a hairline crack last year...

I did get really lucky because had I just headed out on the highway it would have broken off and probably destroyed it..this way I heard it in town at slow speeds and was a quick diagnosis and save.

I seen folks make a metal piece to put inside the fender and replace the bolts? I should do this to the wife's trike before it cracks.

Mine was damaged when removing to get it in the crate at Vancouver Island. Mine was only the bolt hole so I JB Welded steel washers inside around the holes.

Been good for 4,000 UK miles
