Re: Rear Fender Bracket Pre-2001
Everything he does is like a bank vault! He is in the process of removing the top motor mounts which keep loosening and producing intake manifold leaks no matter what I've tried. He's doing the frame down tube to the heads routine in SS, of course. He is getting this bike as solid as possible. The t...

Rear Fender Bracket Pre-2001
My rear fender tabs broke twice (flimsy, dumb design) on my stroker. I asked Jeff to come up with a solution for the problem. Now this is a serious rear fender bracket...Jeff Hemperly style! Ultra strong, polished SS and slotted to fit the frame. I only have to remove the main bolt and the two lower...

Re: Front Motor Mounts..Enough!
I'm told the V8 choppers hve a plate bolted to the rear of the heads to the frame. I don't know the configuration.
I'm also not sure if they are actually needed.

Front Motor Mounts..Enough!
After screwing around with the front motor mounts on my SB stroker for 10 years, even having Jeff Hemperly make heavy SS items...I've had enough. No matter what I've done always problems after a while. The original studs broke and bent twice and the aluminum brackets cracked. I replaced the studs wi...

PC 925 Odessey...Amazing Battery
I haven't ridden or even started up the Boss stroker in over three months. Yesterday it was 10 degrees here in NJ and I had to drive the bike into the enclosed trailer to bring to Jeff Hemperly for some work. It was in an unheated storage facility and I had my jumper cables with me being certain it ...

Re: Possible coolant problem
You probably have an intake manifold leak. Check the tightness of the front bolts. The arrangement is dumb and uses the same studs for the intake manifold and motor mounts. Happened to me twice! Vibration, eventually loosens them. Of course, check the head bolt torque..if loose, usually the right re...

I hear you! I'm older than you and am tiring as well. Great to see you posting here.
Still riding the Boss on trips in the summer but less exuberance and smaller testicles.
Elliot..still crazy after all these years?...Joe

Re: So What Is The Best Modification You have Done To Your Bike,
So many mods! I think the best of them were: 1. Going to the 383 stroker motor with Sanderson headers. It became a killer performer. 2. Replacing the front end with a factory installed late model steering neck and whole front end with inverted forks. 3. Changing to the Mallory fully electronic igni...

Mike Excellent posts. When Israel bombed Lebanon in "retaliation" for the capture of two Israeli soldiers, practically destroying Beirut, I wrote a letter to the editor condemning the attack as excessive and counter-productive to Israel's image and security. Naturally, I was branded as an ...

Re: Reliable fan switches
It never ceases to amaze me the way we have such different experiences with the same product. My NAPA FS-120 fan switch has been in for seven years and 40K miles without any problem. Luck of the draw, I guess. I do like John's idea but just don't zone out in hot weather and forget to look at the tem...

I fear Harley has been going south for several years. I remember having to order them and not even being told when they would be delivered and not even being told the delivery price! The showrooms are now full...not of people but bikes! I went into my local Harley dealer today (a Taj Mahal) just to ...

Re: Distributor Cap and Rotor
If the contacts are only slightly oxidized, 2000 grit sandpaper works great! Use contact cleaner after. If they are burnt or pitted..the rotor and cap must be changed. Darryl..I don't know if bad timing does anything to them but I can't see why it should. The spark jumps across in any case which is ...
