Battery question
Battery question
I am replacing the battery and I currently have the Odyssey 925. Just wondering if anyone has tried something different? Have had good luck with theses but like to know my options if needed.

Re: Battery question
Hey Bill, Odyssey has a pretty good track record although expensive. They pack a big punch for a compact unit but do best when on a tender at all times. Just my experience. Put two in my 124" worked Bourget and they did what no other battery would, cold and hot. Space is often the issue too. Hope this helps. My first Odyssey went 2 years without a tender, the second went 5 with a tender, just FYI.
Never had an issue on the small block ZZ4's either. Some people I've known have... A poor charging system, bad grounding and running too much demand can contribute to heat failure prematurely as well.

Re: Battery question
I've had three of them in my bike. The first died of natural causes. The second was misdiagnosed, by me, as being shot. It was a bad starter. The third is doing just fine. I put the second one in my emergency generator and it is also doing well

Re: Battery question
Mike runs something Different than the Odyssey and he tells me that they are 2/3 the price and the same quality.
Who says building a border wall won't work?!? The Chinese built one over 2000 years ago and they STILL don't have any Mexicans ...

Re: Battery question
I am assuming that they hook up to the battery similarly??petitemoose wrote:Mike runs something Different than the Odyssey and he tells me that they are 2/3 the price and the same quality.
Let us know Dennis...I did not think there was an option...I personally don't have an issue with the Odyssey..

Re: Battery question
Bill noticed the battery was over 3 Years old and wants to replace it- do you replace it because of age or wait till you have an issue? Bill's reasoning is that batteries sometimes don't give warning signs of going bad so better safe than sorry - opinions??

The basic rule of "thumb" (no matter the color) is that regular lead acid batteries like in most cars and equipment, only last about 2-3 years here in Florida due to the heat and other elements however, with the odyssey that seems to be different. I have some friends who haven't had to replace them for over 5 years... can't verify battery tender use in this case though. . it seems no matter the battery, there is no foolproof or failsafe answer unfortunately. Like Lafong said, sometimes we can have a brand new battery fail. Best advice? Carry mini jumper cables and Allstate roadside assistance

Re: Battery question
Thanks for the responses. I ended up going with the Odyssey. Paid 190 with the core and 3 yrs full non pro rated replacement.
