In a statement that has shocked both the motorcycling community and the public at large, Department of Transportation spokesman Melvin P. Meyers announced today that federal and state highway codes will be amended with a bill that promises to legalize burnouts for certain riders as soon as mid-2009.
"The government no longer feels it necessary to regulate whether motorcycles travel on smoking tires if riders are properly trained to perform burnouts," Meyers said in a press conference early this morning. He emphasized that burnouts will only be legal when performed by riders who pass a practical burnout test and earn a "B" exemption on their driver licenses.
