Here's an interesting video I ran across:

I would like to perform such a swap eventually, as my Hoss is still using 1.5 stamped steel rockers.

Any recommendations for a manufacturer/kit number on 1.6 roller rockers?

Thank you.

I have Crane 1.6 roller rockers in my SB engine . Summit racing or Jegs would have them .

I used the Scorpion Brand in mine. For some reason ( Other than Price ) they had something I liked just a tad better than the Crane. For the life of me I cannot remember.
I can tell you that the Installation of them has changed from the technology of the 80's so be sure and get Installation Specs from Whomever you choose.

Thank you both for your responses. Paul H filled me in on some details, too.

I seem to remember someone on the other site
had a roller rocker come apart and dump needles
into the engine. Just can't even remember if it
was oil related or the brand of rocker he used.

Reviving this old thread. I'm not to the point of purchasing rockers yet, as the Hoss is still in mothballs after a little more than a year. Repairs will be completed soon, now that my frustration and the 100+ degree heat is gone. Just digging for info right now.

I find discussions here and there on different forums that recommend 1.6 intake and 1.5 exhaust low-flowing "poorly breathing" heads like the ZZ4 units that are matched with a dual-pattern cam (208/221, 112 LSA, for example) to avoid too much exhaust scavenging resulting in a loss of torque. Others recommend 1.6 intake and exhaust, saying the difference would be negligible. I don't know one way or another. No experience.

I don't have to upgrade the rockers, but that's what hot rodders do (even we low budget shade-tree types): we endlessly tinker, trying to squeeze the turnip.
