Brembo brake discs

Post by GordonBH »

Hi all,

I have a 2007 SB SS and am looking for new brake discs, front and rear. I would like to know the Brembo part numbers and order in the UK/Italy to save a bucket of cash.

Thanks in advance

Hi Gordon, I have a contact number for a chap who works for Brembo. He got my discs made to order. If you get no joy let me know I'll dig it out when I get home

Per the BH Bible:

Pads:
Wildwoods squeal with OEM pads, but brake adequately.
Brembo brakes squeal less but opinions differ if they brake slightly less well or better...
‘03 Brake Pads: both front and rear Lyndall PN 7138-Z

Not sure that is still good for your 07, but probably is.
Regards,

Mark

Thanks guys - yes Paul that Brembo guy's number would be great.

Thanks Mark, I am actually looking for the rotor numbers as I am using EBC HH pads. The rotors have some grooving - light but as it's the brake system we're talking about I like to ensure all is good in that department.

Light grooving should be okay, are you below minimum thickness Gordon?

0.177 = 4.5mm

Are you looking for the whole rotor or just the the outer part where the pads ride? Also, are you planning on putting new buttons on?

Hi Bill,

Outer rotor parts, not carriers and I thought I'd re-use the buttons.

Thanks Paul for that.

Steve, fronts are 4.95mm rear 6mm, the grooves are more ripples so maybe I could wait for a bit, I'm fitting EBC HH pads - sintered so expect a faster rate of wear than historically, I like to be prepared.

03 uses same pads front and rear as stated above. Later bikes used the same as 03 on the front but a different pad on the rear. I think you can probably match them up on the Lyndall website. I have an 03 bike so I don't know the part numbers for the later bike rear.

Gordon, I called the factory today about getting a part number for the outer portion. They have their number (1510309) but not the Brembo#. Maybe you can call your contacts over there and see if they can cross reference?

It's been on my list of thing-to-do since you mentioned it Gordon and now I've opened up the back & front to find Ferodo pads.
Front: FRP408P
Rear: FDB2042P
Found a full set from M&P for £53.49 so I'll order when I get nearer the wear limits.

Those bloody pins on the front are a pig, found they need tapping out from the inside - then discovered the left caliper didn't have an R-Clip!
