2nd ignition / distributor module in 60 miles

Post by CanuckHoss »

Thursday morning I pulled the 502 trike out of the garage...fired up for a few seconds and quit...no fire after that at all...checked with a spare spark plug I have and no spark.

Josh came and changed the module in the distributor and away it went.

On the weekend I did one maybe 60 mile trip and parked it.

Just now I went out and the same thing as Thursday...exactly.

My question "Is there something causing these to go or did I just get a dudd with the 2nd one?

Anything we could check when we get it running?

You have to use the grease that comes with them because they are very heat sensitive.

Barry, what brand module did you use? AC Delco works fine for this application, there will be zero difference paying for a "better or race" module. other than a lighter pocketbook.

I belive Ac Delco Darryl.

We changed the module and the trike fired..ran for 3 seconds and quit... coincidentally we noticed the fuel pump was not running also...I absolutely checked for spark before diagnosing the module and there was none.

There is power to the Holley Red fuel pump but it is limp biscuit so to speak..

A couple gremlins at exactly the same time?? hmmmm

Dennis...you put down the Voodoo doll of me and get to some creative work!!

Seems like everyone is getting an unneeded dose of "if it has tets or wheels it will give you problems". A friend said recently when I was grumbling that 'its justa bunch of parts and you missed something'. yea

New Holley pump fixed it and groom groom again!!.

Did forks seals, front brakes and a new TRIKE DESIGNED from tire...have not had it out on the highway yet but will today or tomorrow..interested to see if I notice a difference straight line or corners...

Still trying to figure the shifter out but after close inspection yesterday and watching a video of how it should work I believe maybe the cam with the notches is worn as the little arm that engages goes down but can't grab the first notch for a full throw...looks like a winter project..remove body and replace shifter
