Steel front fender

Anyone converted to a steel front fender and if so did you keep the product number??

There has to be some that fit..even a stock Harley one. I like the shape of the Boss Hoss fender though.

I know Mountain has but in chatting with Tom he is having a hard time finding them now.

My yellow 2009 57 trike fender is breaking apart as did the fender on my 2007 57...common issue I am sure if you live where the roads rough.

Thank you

Barry, I was going to tell you Tom at Mountain. I thought he had someone making the steel ones for him.

HD Wide Glide for width to fit a 16" rim. Your mounts are adjustable. So their location on the fenders doesn't matter.

I was worried about the width of the fender AND also the holes lining up properly without modifying the fender.

So you are saying if I get one for a Wideglide it will fit 100%??

Lets go with 95% ???
That's better than 50-50???
Just remember 5.oo x 16 tire

Paul, I do know that a Wide Glide runs a narrow 21" front wheel and tire. A 5.00 x 16" is a lot wider, just saying.

Wide Glides from the HD factory have run
16, 19 and 21. The after market fenders
are listed for 5x16 wide tire. Also for the
narrower 21 and larger wheel size. Look
them up in any after market catalog.

Paul, are you thinking about the older Duo-Glides? Dyna Wide Glides have always been a 21" front tire and rim to the best of my knowledge. I agree, the 5x16 size would have the clearance needed for the Boss Hoss front. I don't know about it being a direct bolt on that I think Barry is looking for. IMHO.

I used this one on my bike. I had to tweek the bracket a bit to fit. I never liked the stock BH fender. Looks, to me, like it came off of an old 250 Allstate

Thanks Carl..not enough wrap around for me...I want the same as the newer style fender that Boss Hoss uses but in metal.

The front fender on the Rocket 3 is pressed steel and I think the tyre is same size as the Hoss - might be an option Barry...

Barry, I just looked it up for you on Ebay. A used Triumph Rocket 3 steel front fender, (are you sitting down Barry?) $300 US dollars. Kinda of pricey, heh? LOL!

Fender mounts to adapt just about any fender to the Boss Hoss forks are very simple to fabricate then just paint them the same color as the fender . No big deal .

Barry, I just looked at that Ebay ad again. The fender is a unused take-off fender for a trike conversion. New they go for $370+ US, so the ad says. FYI, the item is located in Warren,Ohio. The ad also states: Make us an offer!! Good Luck with your decision and project.

Thanks...most likely I will go the easy / cheap route as I did with the blue 57 trike...my guys made a piece of metal plate 1/8 thick with the 2 holes. They then glued it inside the fender as a support.

I will go with a steel "IF" and only if it is a direct bolt on like the fenders Tom used to use but can't find.

This is the only one I can find - although it's from the States - but it's damaged so no good.

I think the R3 wheel's 1" bigger on the dia so the radius might be out anyway.

The old Harley Fat Boy fender looks very similar to the rocket 3 and I’m sure would fit. I bet that are cents in the US
