UPGRADING CURRENT LS ECM SYSTEM
I am putting this out here for all LS owners.
I have heard a suggestion, of considering an "upgrade" to the new Holly system, on my 2014 57 Chevy 485 trike !
Is this even a cost effective consideration ? New tank & paint, new wiring harness, the Holly EFI system and what else am I missing ? I am thinking that it would be cost prohibitive ! Craig H.

Re: UPGRADING CURRENT LS ECM SYSTEM
You can do a basic upgrade which is just ECU and Harness, keep existing fuel tank, console , radiator, pump , etc.
it's ur call.

May I ask if the factory does EFI upgrades to bikes in-house? Only reason for the question is that would save me a considerable amount of shipping costs, as I hope to have the '07 502 in Dyersburg i.e. for the Paris rally next month.
Thanks!

Olson, I'm a bit confused with your post. You have a 502 which is carbureted, what ECU are you referring to?Oldun wrote:Hi RickyGrand Canard wrote:You can do a basic upgrade which is just ECU and Harness, keep existing fuel tank, console , radiator, pump , etc.

Sorry Ricky and indeed I am confused. I had brain fade and didn't think of the difference between upgrading an ECU and retrofitting EFI... Tech is not my strong suit!
What I was trying to ask is - do you do a factory conversion from carbs to EFI; while I would have the bike in TN, that would save me shipping costs to and from Havasu.

The factory doesn't but plenty of hot rod shops out there will happily install it for you.Oldun wrote:Sorry Ricky and indeed I am confused. I had brain fade and didn't think of the difference between upgrading an ECU and retrofitting EFI... Tech is not my strong suit!

Re: UPGRADING CURRENT LS ECM SYSTEM
For what it's worth, I converted my carb bike to EFI (MSD Atomic) in a night. No special tools. Had the muffler shop weld the o2 bung on my exhaust the day before.
I had to go with the MSD because the other throttle bodies available wouldn't fit under my frame or the gas tank. Most of these installs are a few hours and then self learning after that.

Thanks Jack. But given my level of mechanical inexpertise & since it requires something other than anesthesia, incision, repaid, suturing... I think I'll go with the EFI experts at Havasu.

Understood... I guess my point is that any competent shop should be able to do the install in a day.Oldun wrote:Thanks Jack.
