Chech front fenders!

Post by CanuckHoss »

Please check your plastic front fenders for any cracking around the mounting bolts. Sitting at Billy's place last night I noticed a trike with the right side cracked pretty bad..not sure if it is fixable. This trike is not custom paint so would be cheaper to replace and paint but anybody with custom paint that wrecks their fender is going to pay more for paint

It almost seems that you should reinforce any of these plastic fenders "before" shit happens...if it breaks and falls off while riding would not be good and that is what nearly happened to me with my 502 trike and could have maybe to this trike I noticed last night.

What is the saying..an ounce of prevention is worth....

Barry,

Great thing to be looking at during the pre-flight (ride) inspection.

Where can I buy a couple of front fender mounting clamps?

I had mine apart last week, fixing that lower fork leaking problem that others have had. Changed the fork oil while I was at it.

During reassembly, I noticed the threads inside one of the clamps was looking a little iffy.
Regards,

Mark

I don't know if Boss Hoss gets these made special for them or not. If they do then you need to order from Boss Hoss I guess

Here is what I did. I had noticed a small paint crack on the back left side by the fender mount. I originally installed large chrome fender washers with matching fenders on the back side. Afterwards, I didn't care for that look and realized that I could increase my support surface area by making and chrome an oblong washer- front w/ same non chrome in back.
The plastic cracking issue is simply a " lack of sufficient" surface area support. Craig H.

I think it's more of a problem on the inverted forks

Hi GordonBH, no unfortunately they I won't be building these for sale. After designing the shape, I had the 4- piece pattern cut out by a water jet cutter @ $50. The chrome job on two pieces was another $50 !! Craig
