Re: Fender mounting

Rob I think the difference in opinion is that you believe most bikes still have 1 1/2 inches to raise. I don't remember my shocks ever extending atleast that much anyway when raising the center of the bike. Your explanation works fine if that 1 1/2 inches is available. The distance you mention could...

Wildman, I see you are paying attention to detail. Every V8 bike owner should have a skidder they could make an excellent bike lift.

Re: Fender mounting

Here is my explanation in different words and I am describing traditional spring where is a variable rate spring could cause even more things to consider. If you have the spring off of the shock and fully extended on the floor, depending on it's capacity you can probably manually compress it slightl...

Re: Too Fragmented

The little red flags weren't working for me because some older posts still had the flags. I realized that they were still showing unread because I had looked at those posts at work without signing in and never opened them when signed in. So this morning I went through and opened everything that had ...

Re: Crushed Pickup Filter...

I found it interesting to see these pics because I have the B transmission and am unfamiar with the tube that keep being mentioned on the A transmissions. So I thought this might be a good time to post a pic inside the pan of my B for comparison.

Magnefine Inline Filter

Last year when I tried to get the inline filter from NAPA as many of us previously have they told me it had been discontinued in their stores. I have never heard if others have had the same issue but I found them cheaper to buy online anyway. Then Aldo found them even cheaper than I did. They are al...

Re: Fender mounting

Rob, in order for tightening the springs to make the shocks longer it would have to mean the shocks were not already fully extended with the current preload. So if in fact less preload means the weight of the bike would compress the shocks slightly, but at that same time you could lift the frame of ...

Re: Mobil 4T - International Viscousity Variance

I have no problem with that it doesn't affect my bike at all if you run excessively thick fluid in Australia. I would expect though that areas with tight clearances will get poor lubrication and it will take longer for fluid to apply and release clutches.

Re: 4th Annual V8 Motorcycle Run - Daytona Bike Week

I have no proof either way on the deer whistles, but have known some people that say they work. I haven't used them but probably should. Most that I know of stick on with double sided tape and come in chrome or black. I have never heard anyone claim that they attract deer so they atleast shouldn't h...

Re: Tranny Upgrade

The new bearing location is not necessarily for bearing failures but curing the same things as the addition of an external bearing with internal changes. The new location being under the pulley instead of inboard of the pully will reduce output shaft flex under load of belt tension which should redu...

Re: Tranny Upgrade

What about the beefed up casing on the 08's? Sounds like that could be a retrofit to at least stop belt skip. That is what I mean about relocated output shaft bearing. I guess my description wasn't very clear. The trans case is redesigned to move the output shaft bearing further out and a new pulle...

Joe, if you are referring to the redesigned output shaft bearing location that is a fact we saw that in place at the last national rally. Other than that I do not know of any changes.

I agree also but more should be said about the good guys like Warpony,he dosen't advirtise much and I'm afraid some folks will forget that he works on the Hoss too. This is the fault I see with a rating system. Small dealers that may have very high quality could be easily overlooked or assumed to b...

Re: 2008 BHRA RALLY LOCATION

Seems to me the setup for the rally should be an improvement. The only bad thing in Dyersburg was that everything was spread around town (factory, square, On The Rocks, and motels). The new location should get vendors, motels, campers, banquets all into a closer area. I am looking forward to seeing ...

Yes, I have seen problems which I can usually trace to a system that has had longterm leaks and not been properly maintained. I would not argue with anyone that chooses not to use dexcool, but personally all vehicles I own that came with dexcool have it in them now including my bike.
