Re: NESCO LEAK
That sintered brass fitting is what I had also. It seems we all did the same fix which is sanitary and what the factory should have done. It seems all the older bikes had the rats nest wiring, I think the newer ones are more sanitary. One thing about doing the little upgrades on any bike is you beco...

Re: NESCO LEAK
Thats a common leak on these things. When you do fix it make sure your breather is as unrestrictive as possible or the trans will also use the wire opening as a breather.

NESCO LEAK
Friday I rode the BH to BIG BEAR lake in southern Calif. A distance of only about 500 miles round trip. The traffic normally travels between 80 and 90 mph on that freeway as the first hundred miles is just across a desert. The BH is perfect on trips like that so I was cruising around 85 or 90 most o...

Re: Tachometer question, electrical help...
Ric, I got a 2003 and sometimes the tach runs backward. I don't know how many wires mine has but I bet the backwards thing has something to do with the wire that goes to the loom if mines the same as yours.

Re: THE THRILL IS ON AGAIN
Makes me wonder how those bikes can lay such long streaks of rubber seemingly at random and a any speed. Our V8 bikes wont do what those bikes did. Whats the secret.

Re: THE THRILL IS ON AGAIN
I was amazed at the bikes being able to lay rubber on asphalt as if it were dirt roads. The guys are good but today there are lits of guys just like them. I see em riding down Los Angeles freeways on the back wheel at 70 mph. If that don't seem crazy enough they will slow down and ride on the front ...

Re: Need Ideas
Different model years have more or less space I guess. I remember making an aluminum bracket for mine so that all the bolt holes have bolts in them, no more two bolts is good enough. There are other fuse boxes even better than the Blue Sea one, I'm sure you'll find a good one that will fit. If you g...

Re: Need Ideas
Moose, my bike also came with the extra 12 lbs of wire. In 2003 the dealer you purchased a new bike from did the wiring with a loom I imagine the factory supplied. I guess the looms were universal and fit everything from the 502 bikes down to the barstools. I couldn't believe the way the dealer did ...

Moose if you get the birds nest wiring squared away you'll really be ahead of the game. Most of the older bikes came with the worst looking wiring I ever saw on ANYTHING mass produced.

I don't ride in the rain if possible. When traveling from out west where I live going east though its unusual if you don't hit any. So far no matter how hard its coming down everything keeps working. I did install the BLUE SEAS fuse box along with sanitizing all the wiring within the first month I o...

Re: Asking for help on a radical modification.
Stan once went off a V8 with a throttle stuck wide open at about 80 mph, the bike continued without a rider to well over 120 mph before striking a truck. The problem with lots of mechanical things that twirl and pull is the chance of locking up. I'm sure this isn't a new piece of information that yo...

Between So Cal and Las Vegas Nv I've become used to 12 months a year where the weather stays pretty nice. Iwent recently and visited Stan in Oklahoma, it was snow and 12 degrees. You gotta love TV to live there and you can't be lazy because you gotta keep a fire going. All those beautiful places wit...

Re: Could've been UGLY!!
This sounds like a horrible situation. I am amazed at this happening on a bike and just as amazed that it doesn't happen regularly on trikes. Those bolts are under MAJOR sideways pressures on a trike whenever they are turning. Bikes rarely turn the forks unless you are going very slow, at speed they...

Re: BSS HOSS TACH
I think thats a good place to start but a loose wire should result in an ON or OFF situation, not a cause to make the tach run backwards.hogv8 wrote:I'd first check all the connections on the tach and at the distributor .

BOSS HOSS TACH
The tach on my Boss Hoss has started to act up. Every once in a while for the last year, maybe four times, when I started the bike the tach didn't move. I would be riding for a mile or two and then all of a sudden it would work again. After that it might not happen again for months and when it did t...

Bryan Ward is ONE of the LUCKY ones, there are quite a few actually including me. On the other hand there are guys who have had the complete opposite results, some have lunched 3 of them! If the guy you know has the correct design in the same space it will be a miracle. I hope someone pulls it off b...

Re: BH trans rumors
I was told by a fellow (Bill Alexander) all about the Nesco trans and its design shortcomings. Bill was a friend of Monte's and one of the very first BH dealers. Bill had one of the first 502 bikes and instantly broke the tranny. He was a pioneer with the Ranger conversion. Anyway he told me that if...

Re: BH trans rumors
From what I've seen the new tranny that Winters is working on will possibly be only slightly better than a properly rebuilt Nesco. The design is the weak spot not so much the materials. They will always be weak in overdrive with the current design. As more horsepower and especially torque is availab...
