Re: Oil leak from transmission
Try checking it after one minute of running in first gear at maybe 1500 rpm's. Usually if its above the lines its because the torque converter is not full yet.
Re: Carb Woes
John, did he say how long it would take. Did you get the fuel pump done. Are you still going to run another carb till Mike is done. Why don't you just run a Holley Red, mines been on eight years without a regulator and its been fine.
Re: Trans Oil
I am wondering about the shifting times from when the bike is cold. My bike shifts from first to second very slow unless the oil is warm. Normally when I first start the bike at the beginning of the day I ride it in first gear only for about ten minutes. After that my transmission oil temperature ga...

Re: wondering about mileage
I put ARNOTT air suspension on my bike 8 years ago and have always said it was like night and day from the coil sucks it had. Never has leaked and the onboard compressor has been great. When I pack my wife I add some air but the little switch that adds or subtracts air always lets me find the sweet ...

Small Block. 3rd tranny. First 2 were replaced under warranty. First one at 5,800 miles..... Second one at 15,800 miles. I never power shifted either one of them. Mine is the "A" tranny with "B" revisions. I plan to tow a VERY LIGHT trailer soon, to transport American Flags to u...

Re: wondering about mileage
Mine has 81,000+ miles on it. Taking it to La Crosse later this week. 81000 is impressive. Original trans? Small block or big block? I notice the hitch, do you pull a trailer? Mine has just over 30000 miles on it, I hope it lasts as long as yours. I have a few bikes but since I can only r...

Re: wondering about mileage
I bought my bike back in 2008 but the bike was a 2003. I was amazed and skeptical because the owner said the bike had only 523 miles on it. Turned out his brother in law was a dealer and the bike did not sell for over two years so he bought it from him. He told me his wife hated it and she was convi...

Re: ANOTHER RIDE
It was a quick ride but we had fun. Total mileage for the two days was 696 miles. All different temperatures and different elevations. Beautiful country and close enough to Las Vegas to do whenever one feels like a ride is in order. A friend was supposed to meet us on day two and we planned on conti...

Started our little ride today, here is a few pics, got over 10000 feet, snow on sides of road but road was dry and it was beautiful. The bike ran great, carbed bikes still run great.

Re: another tranny question
I think Barrys method is fine but its over the top. I don't think changing every ounce of oil is necessary unless its so full of brass that the trans needs to be overhauled. If you just drain the oil, blow out the internal filter, change the Magnafine filter and add fresh oil without disconnecting a...

Re: another tranny question
I would not do it like that. If you drain the trans don't start it again until you fill it back up. I don't think you need to drain the torque converter but if you think you do then I guess you could start the bike up immediately after you filled the trans with fresh oil and let it run for a minute ...

Re: Oil leak from transmission
When you say "OVERFILL" it makes me wonder. My sight tube on my trans shows it to be way OVERFULL when the bike is not running and is straight up and down. The oil level is between the two lines only when the bike is running and is in either gear and straight up and down. Once I turn it of...

I went in the hospital today for a minor thing but it seemed terrible in my mind. They told me they they would stick a camera up my d--k and have look at my prostrate and bladder. I'm from the polaroid generation so its beyond my imagination to think that this can be possibly be done without lots of...

ANOTHER RIDE
Last night I changed the transmission fluid on the Boss and today washed and polished the bike (actually some one comes here and does that) in preparation for another ride in a few days. Riding on a motorcycle trip is always fun. My wife will be with me along with a couple of other friends on their ...

Re: Is Uship good, or are there better transport companies?
My 2003 has the Quadrajet on it. I sent it to Mike 7 years ago and when I got it back it was like a new bike. I had nothing but a good experience working with him and he and he gave me a few tips about the choke and fuel pump. I would not call the carb junk, in fact just the opposite. There may be o...

Re: Boss hoss dealers
I agree with you Jack. I think the kits would have to come in different states of completion and have different prices. I think its the only way to increase the volume of sales enough to make a difference. Most states don't have any emissions laws for motorcycles. Nevada does have them for trikes. I...

Re: Boss hoss dealers
Thanks for the compliment about my old bike John. Imagine how much fun it would be to buy the major components from BH and build your own bike. I love the pictures Ricky just posted showing them starting to build six new bikes. I've watched Stan and his guys building new bikes, it would make me droo...

Re: Boss hoss dealers
Here is a suggestion for Ricky to consider. I THINK THE FACTORY SHOULD SELL KITS AGAIN. Boss Hoss started out selling kits and maybe its time to once again offer them. In my opinion there will never be enough V8 bike customers, they are a unique segment of the Motorcycle world. The prices of all V8...

Re: Boss hoss dealers
The problem besides the insurance issue is the vin number. You cant put a complete vin # on any vehicle that is not complete. Then it comes to an issue it turns into homebuilt. You cant call it by the BH name. Also resale values will come into play. You really don't know what someone has pieced tog...

What year is your bike? I have a 2003 with a 350 ZZ4 but my right front mount is different than yours. What engine is in your bike?

Re: Boss hoss dealers
I think they could get around the insurance with some sort of signed document releasing liability. Possibly they could even get coverage with some company today, I don't know. I do think they would sell many kits of unpainted bikes and trikes. No dealer mark up would help keep the price down. Boss H...
